Due to regulatory issues, MTN Nigeria has stopped Open Sender id for DND numbers.

This means that messages sent to DND lines on the MTN Network will deliver with a default sender ID.

For now, the default sender ID is "INFO" or "INFINITY". However, this could be changed without notice.

The implementation of the DND policy is no longer new to Nigerians and it is no longer news the headache the DND policy has created for Nigerians especially business owners, religious organizations, associations and NGOs. Even individuals that use bulk sms to invite their family members and friends to events such as wedding ceremony, birthday parties etc. While we agree that this is a good development in order to curb the menace of unsolicited sms, this policy also has its disadvantages.

Do Not Disturb (DND) And How it has Affected Bulk SMS Delivery

Recently NCC issued a directive to the telecommunications service providers in the country that starting from July 1, 2016, they must activate the ‘Do Not Disturb’ (DND) policy. This is due to complaints submitted to NCC due to unsolicited third-party SMS received by individuals.
